"Very soon a repatriation flight for italians stranded in Kenya"

Revelation by the italian MP Manfredi Potenti

25-04-2020 by redazione

According to a Tuscan MP of the League, Mr Manfredi Potenti, our Ministry of Foreign Affairs will shortly announce the organization of a second return flight for the compatriots (about a thousand throughout the country, but not all intend to return) who are still in Kenya and in particular those who had a flight booked beyond March 25, when the Kenyan Government, with a few days' notice, closed the international airports and they did not make time (or did not feel like it) to leave with the flights on 22, 23 and 24 March nor with the return flight organized by the Farnesina on 31 March from Mombasa and Nairobi to Milan Malpensa and announced four days earlier.
"I would like to thank my colleague Hon. Paolo Formentini for the rapid information he gave me from the Farnesina regarding some compatriots from Piombino, and other Italian localities, who have been stranded in Kenya for more than 40 days - writes the Leghista deputy on his social profile - The Farnesina informs us that they will soon be guaranteed a return flight to Italy. I reassure all the relatives and friends who have been worried about them in these hours".
Several local newspapers in Italy have highlighted stories of Italians "stranded" in Kenya, often citing the precarious economic conditions as the cause of the non-return. Also because (but nobody writes this) there have already been three other flights for EU citizens in the meantime.
None of them, as far as it turns out, would be in "dangerous" conditions as written by the newspapers.
The problem for which we too have received e-mails and messages is mainly related to the lack of medicines, another factor that has been underestimated by those who did not leave from a country that had already taken serious restrictive measures ten before the blockade of the skies.
