Covid-19 Kenya: situation of today, April 5th

4 new cases and an important message of Health CS

05-04-2020 by redazione

"If you want to risk killing your parents or grandparents, then get on the road for the Easter holidays."
These harsh, strong words were spoken yesterday by Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe during a press conference at Afya House in Nairobi.
In announcing 4 new cases of positivity in the country, after the last 300 tests carried out in the last 24 hours, the Minister warned his citizens in view of the upcoming holidays.
"I would like to make a particular appeal to our young people - said Kagwe - you must take the appropriate countermeasures so that you are not the vehicle of the virus that can easily attack those older than you.  This is your moment, you will have to answer to your parents if they get sick".
The Minister then took stock of the situation: there are now 126 infected people in the country, there are still 4 dead, two of whom had important previous illnesses. Of the four new ones, three are Kenyan citizens and one is Pakistani. Two of them recently went to Malawi and one came from the Asian state.
"The search for contacts remains the biggest activity we are carrying out at the moment - concluded Kagwe - Already 1781 have been monitored, we managed to discharge about 1,100 people from our follow-up program at the deadline of 14 days".
