18-05-2017 by redazione

After Volkswagen, Peugeot and Iveco, Volvo also invests in Kenya and is preparing to open an assembly plant in Mombasa.
The Swedish multinational will assemble its Tir directly in the African country, and it will be the third such plant, after those in South Africa and Morocco.
Volvo Trucks President Claes Nilsson presented the project that will be launched in the first quarter of 2018 and envisages a Kshs investment. 2.5 billion (about 22 million euros) for a production of 500 pieces a year.
"Kenya has shown great opportunities and we believe that this part of Africa has important growth potential, so we will put on the market the most modern trucks we have, with the addition of specific fittings for East Africa." Nillson also said.
The plant will be implemented through a partnership with NECST Motors, which is now the exclusive importer of Volvo trucks in the East African region.
The planned investment should create around 300 direct jobs in addition to other indirect employment opportunities.
