Foreign citizens who since the beginning of the pandemic emergency in Kenya, i.e. since last March 25, 2020, have benefited from the extension of their residence permit from tourists until today, have from today 14 days to apply for a residence or work permit, or will have to leave the country by the end of the month.
This is the new directive approved by the Office of Immigration of Kenya on Monday, September 14. In the official communiqué posted on the official twitter profile of the Immigration Office and released to the national media it reads verbatim: "Visitors have 2 weeks from September 14, 2020 to organize their departure within 14 days or request residence (permit or pass) to regularize their stay".
The statement explains that you can rely on the immigration website fns.immigration.go.ke to apply for a residence permit.
For those who will not comply with this directive, there will be criminal sanctions as provided by the law on illegal immigration and illegal stay in the country.
