Luggage delays in Kenya, tourists blame Airlines

Good assistance by Malindi and Watamu Hotels

16-08-2019 by redazione

In August of holidays in Kenya by many Italians, a little discomfort is concerning the delays in the delivery of luggage, which this year are certainly above the usual average.
Disruptions that have become frequent especially with regard to the flight of the Turkish Airlines, especially (it is not certain that it is a case) since the inauguration of the new airport in Istanbul, where passengers from Italy stop off and then get on the flight that will take them to Mombasa or Nairobi. It must also be said that often the connections are very tight.
In recent days the delays have become almost endemic, and although in much smaller numbers, even with Ethiopian Airlines there have been disruptions of the kind in Mombasa, where tourists have not always been able to pick up their bags. The delivery time in case of failure to board the checked baggage is usually four days. For those who in this period makes a holiday of eight to ten days is definitely a big hassle.
It must be said that for those who have accommodation in facilities, the hotel often makes itself available to its customers, although it is not at all responsible for this, even in the case of packages with tour-operators.
"As everyone knows, in case of lost luggage, their recovery and return is the responsibility of the carrier - confirms Daniele Tiritò, General Manager of Jacaranda Resort - but, even if the problem is not ours, we always do our best to assist customers. In this period we have asked and ask all Tour Operators to do their best to follow the situation and especially to put pressure on the airline Turkish Airlines because the facts do not happen again.  With the latest arrivals in Mombasa the luggage has been delivered in good part and therefore we hope for a quick return to normal. To all customers who have purchased the flight directly, through tour operators or agencies, we recommend and ask you to act immediately with the company for refunds that are due to him.   After all, Turkish has always done well, so something must have happened: if put under pressure they will take appropriate countermeasures".
