Malindi and Watamu spray disinfectants in public places

Health initiatives by the County for Covid19 outbreak

30-03-2020 by redazione

Kilifi County, considered one of the Covid19 high-risk epidemic regions, has taken important health measures that travel in parallel with the Governor's orders concerning public order, bans and restrictions on transportation, businesses and citizens.
For some days now, each zone of Malindi and Watamu considered at risk has been disinfected with a product supplied at a special price, thanks to the intercession of some members of the Malindi Stakeholders Group, able to immunize entire areas for about 48 hours, when the "virusbusters" will come back to spray again.
The initiative, coordinated by the Minister of Health of the County, Anisa Omar, does not have enough funds to be carried out in a systematic and oil-spraying way as the territory needs, so there are continuous donations to buy the disinfectant liquid that costs kes. 5500 per gallon. The covered areas of Malindi are particularly the new market with the matatu terminal, the old one, the roundabout area and the more densely populated districts.
In addition to this important operation, continues the work of sensitization of the officers and a group of volunteers who during the disinfestation explain to the population the precautions to be taken against the Coronavirus and how to make themselves useful in turn to reach as many people as possible in understanding that it is necessary to avoid the pandemic that has hit historically more advanced countries, but now in embassies, such as those in Europe and now the United States.
