Official: new Kenya elections on 26th october

IEBC change date to manage the entire process

21-09-2017 by redazione

The new presidential elections in Kenya will take place on Thursday 26 October instead of Tuesday 17 October.
Confirmation is open the day after the Supreme Court of Kenya's publication of the judgment annulling the previous elections.
Elections that have already been invalidated on 1 September and, as provided for in the Constitution, must be repeated within 60 days.
The deadline would therefore be 31 October.
Initially, the IEBC Electoral Commission had proposed the date of 17 October, at the request of the Ministry of Education, to allow the beginning of the year-end exams in primary and secondary schools, scheduled for the end of the month.
But the times proved to be too tight and, on the advice of the French company Safran-Ot Morpho, which organizes the electronic transmission of the vote and the companies providing ballot papers and ballot papers, the director of IEBC Wafula Chebukati decided to set the new date, 9 days later.
In the next few days, or perhaps even today, there should be a discussion between the IEBC and the representatives of the two coalitions representing the respective candidates, Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
As you know, the Opposition not only successfully presented the petition to cancel the elections, but also made it a condition for the new round of elections that certain members of the same commission be dismissed and that the French be excluded from the technical organisation of the vote.
