The Chief Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Rashid Abdi Aman, Tuesday, April 28 announced that 11 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. All kenyan citizens.
Speaking from the ministerial headquarters of Afya House in Nairobi, Abdi Aman said that the total number of those who have tested positive for the virus since the outbreak in Kenya has risen to 374, adding that two of the new cases are children aged three years.
"Seven of the new cases come from Nairobi and four from Mombasa" - he said - The four cases registered in Nairobi are from the districts of Kawangware (4), Eastleigh (1), Manji (1) and Kaloleni (1), while the four cases of Mombasa all come from the Old City.
Dr Abdi Aman has asked residents of these areas to take additional measures to avoid contracting the disease.
He also noted that the Government has improved contact tracing, surveillance and infection control management in both Mombasa and Nairobi.
"It is important to note that the trend of positive cases has been limited in Nairobi and Mombasa. This indicates an increase in local transmission in these two counties. The rest of the counties are advised to continue to strictly observe the containment measures".
So far, in terms of distribution of COVID-19 cases, Nairobi has 241, Mombasa 98, Kilifi (10), Mandera (8), Kiambu (5), Kajiado (3), Kitui(2) Nakuru (2), Siaya (2), Homa Bay (1), Kakamega (1), Kwale (1) and Uasin Gishu (1).
At the same time, the Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Health confirmed that another 10 patients were discharged, bringing the total number of healings to 124. And for the eighth day in a row, no coronavirus deaths have been officially recorded in the country.
"Don't get your hopes up," concluded Abdi Aman. "The time to celebrate and lose sight of the enemy is far from over. It is necessary that we continue to strictly adhere to the strict measures recommended by the Ministry of Health".
