Dubai Civil Aviation has temporarily suspended all air transport services, inbound and outbound from Kenya for at least 48 hours, until Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.
In a directive issued on the morning of Monday, December 20, DCAA warned that passengers on Emirates flights who wish to board for Nairobi in the next 48 hours will not be accepted at the airline's counters. Only citizens and residents of Dubai will be allowed to board the aircraft.
As for flights out of Dubai to Kenya's capital, there will be no problems.
"Customers affected by this directive do not need to call us immediately for rebooking," the DCCA wrote, "they can simply keep their Emirates ticket and when flights resume, get in touch with their travel agent or reservations office to make a new flight ticket.
While they have not made it clear what the reason for the suspension of flights is, there have been credible rumors about an increasing number of travelers arriving from Kenya, including those in transit from other countries, showing up with fake Covid-19 Free certificates.
