The confirmation of the first case of Coronavirus in Kenyan territory was given four hours ago, but we waited to give you more detailed information about the countermeasures taken by the Ministry of Health.
So, the first case was registered in Nairobi and it is a 27-year-old kenyan woman of American and Kenyan citizenship who, according to the Ministry and reported by local press agencies, on 5 March, traveled from the United States via London to return to the Kenyan capital where she lives. The woman as soon as she felt the possible symptoms of the flu virus that is worrying the world, she reported to Kenyatta National Hospital and her tests were taken to the National Influenza Lab which established that it is Coronavirus.
The Health Minister of Kenya Mutahi Kagwe confirmed this in an official statement and also added that the woman is in stable condition and already has no more fever, but that the health authorities with his help have traced most of the people with whom the kenyan young woman has had close relations this week. The communiqué also pointed out that since the first cases found in China, the Government has been working to improve isolation and intensive care services, but also to rest assured that the virus can be cured at home, in self-quarantine, and that the mortality rate affects 99% of the chronically ill and elderly people with diseases, who will obviously try to be treated as appropriate.
Surely, in any case, the first case found will have an effect on airport controls and the regulation of entry into Kenya.
