Malindi Airport ready for Boeing 737

06-02-2017 by redazione

Work on the Malindi International Airport adjustment continues (almost) according to the schedule. In recent days, it was approved the so-called finishing "apron" (strange name for an airport expansion, we could translate it as "bathrobe") which will be used for the maneuvers of the Boeing 747 that will land in Malindi. The enlargement works, have been completed for the eighty percent that had already been expropriated land with appropriate reimbursement of those who lived above us, as confirmed by the director of the north coast airport, Walter Agong.
Work also includes a new parking lot, which will bring the capacity of cars from 50 to more than 100 vehicles.
Agong said he was confident that the other phases of the work, concerning the extension of its runway to take off and land the big planes that can make intercontinental routes and the purchase of additional land, they can follow the time and preset modes and if you do not respect them, stay within a few months.
But with the apron finished you can already enter into agreements with flag carriers or charter that will make stopovers routes (for example, the Ethiopian with a stopover in Addis Ababa and then direct flight to Malindi) and also think about the African tourism, with direct flights from Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania precisely.
