The "italian" Kenya of agriculture showcases in Rimini

AICS brings kenyan realities at Macfrut Expo

04-05-2022 by redazione

Kenya will be one of the protagonists of the 39th edition of Macfrut, the global exhibition dedicated to fruit and vegetables held in Rimini from today until next Friday, May 6. Together with Mozambique and Senegal, thanks to a project carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), ITA - Foreign Trade Office, UNIDO and in partnership with Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, various African companies in the fruit and vegetable sector will be at the center of many events during the "Africa days".
Among the 19 companies that AICS is bringing to Italy, six are from Kenya and will be able to compare themselves with Italian excellence in the supply chain, with the possibility of creating networks with international clients and investors, presenting their products in an important showcase, expanding their export opportunities and accessing improved technologies.
Coordinated by the Rome headquarters, the AICS foreign offices in Nairobi, Dakar and Maputo will bring to the international fruit and vegetable show the most emblematic African flavors: from mangoes to lychees and cashews from Kenya, Mozambique and Senegal.
There will be six participating companies from Kenya, accompanied by an official from the local Ministry of Agriculture: in addition to mangoes, avocados, chili peppers, dried fruit and other natural products, innovative digital technologies will also be presented. These include the Farmshine platform, which networks growers, international investors and service providers by facilitating smallholder farmers' access to international business opportunities and fairer markets.
We've already talked about Farmshine and its creators, Luca Alinovi and Alessio Colussi, here: https://www.malindikenya.net/en/articles/news/people/luca-alessio-and-the-app-helping-kenian-farmers.html
"The creation of work and business opportunities is a priority for AICS in Kenya - explains the Owner of the AICS Nairobi Office, Giovanni Grandi - we work to support local small and medium enterprises to contribute to the sustainable development of agricultural supply chains. This is a fundamental support, also in light of global shocks that threaten food security, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the effects of climate change and the Ukrainian crisis".
