The Italian myth in vintage cars in Kenya

Our presence at the Nairobi Concours d'Elegance

26-09-2023 by Freddie del Curatolo

Back in 1970, some Kenyan motor enthusiasts, including residents of Italian, British and Indian origin, founded the first Alfa Romeo Club in sub-Saharan Africa.
Two years later, at the urging of this group, the East African Concours d'Elegance was born, which has been held every year since then in Nairobi and sees the oldest, rarest and most prestigious models that have ploughed the dirt roads and first tarmacs of Kenya and neighbouring countries since cars and motorbikes were created.

This is not just a parade of vintage cars and motorbikes, but a veritable exhibition of memories, stories, anecdotes that tell, through each lovingly preserved jewel, the evolution of these lands from colonialism to independence, through integration and the enthusiastic approach of the new Kenyan generations.
Everything else, with an Italian presence to celebrate the myth of Alfa Romeo and the great Italian engine and design brands, we tell you in the report of the 2023 edition, the fifty-first, which took place on Sunday 24 September.
