The girls of Furunzi are not standing by and watching. If the soccer academy we founded 16 years ago is now a point of reference for most of the children and young people in the northern suburbs of Malindi and has saved dozens of them from the temptations of the street, leading many to excellent academic results, we have always tried not to neglect the girls, who, due to degradation and poverty, are subjected to other threats, such as child prostitution, to bring money home or gain independence, which often means simply being able to buy sanitary pads.
This is the reality of poor neighborhoods in Kenyan cities, and it is useless to pretend otherwise.

Sport brings people together, it is a means of getting teenagers to school, encouraging them to stay away from alcohol and drugs and to cultivate certain values.
It is not easy to carry on with this project, which has its point of reference in the senior team, Real Malindi, which has started the second half of the County Championship.
Without the patron Pasquale Pes and the social sponsor Karibuni, who have always been by our side, and without a few supporters, such as the Salento beach resort Bahia for this season, we would not be able to do anything.

But despite this, the desire to help the girls, for whom we created the volleyball team in the past, led us to form a women's soccer team as well. The result is that a great group of enthusiastic players has already formed and started participating in tournaments!
It is still too early to think about enrolling them in a league, partly because we lack a donor, a sponsor, and funds.
Amidst all this, the girls' joy is palpable, but it is always sad to see the detachment and indifference of the residents of Malindi. We're not talking about donations (everyone has their own problems), but about taking an interest in a project like this, getting involved, and learning about it.
But we're going ahead anyway, and we're ready to celebrate the victories of the women's team and the achievements of a life that for so many others is often devoid of hope.
