After the rainy season and the cool and still somewhat humid appendix of August, Kenya prepares its best dress for the so-called 'equator spring', the most beautiful season of the year according to many experts in this part of Africa.
Temperatures are still pleasantly cool, the wind is appreciable but not as impetuous as it was a month ago, and above all the sea invites you to be observed and used for the beauty of its colours.
As we have often written, with just the right amount of irony, 'September and October are wonderful months for tourism in Kenya: in fact hardly anyone comes'.
This year we certainly can't fleece our compatriots, many of whom are still unable to enter the country due to the restrictions, especially Italian ones, of the pandemic.
It's a pity because these days the climate is starting to be fantastic: dry heat during the day and cool, breezy evenings. The sea both in Malindi and Watamu and Mambrui reaches the maximum splendour of its beauty (except for some algae in some bays of Watamu). But it is a perfect season to discover the Kenyan coast also because hotels are cheaper, there are special offers for flights and even everyday life is less expensive. The lack of tourists and homeowners means that certain commodities drop in price, from fish to handicrafts and so on. In short, local vendors pay more attention to the customer and are more afraid of losing the only chance of earning a living until Christmas. Visiting Kenya in this period would also be ideal for the national parks, which are less crowded and therefore more picturesque and engaging.
It is no coincidence that in these days travellers are starting to be seen, between Diani, Watamu and Malindi, who have only now decided to take a holiday in a destination as far away as the Swahili coast. Ukrainians, Russians, Romanians but also Spaniards and French, are appreciating the peace and serenity of this part of Kenya and will surely experience it at one of its best.
For all the others...let us hope that the appointment is only postponed!
