Govt acquisition of 22 hectars of land for Malindi airstrip

More private land to expand the international airport

A new land acquisition by the Ministry of Transport, the purchase of other 22.4 hectares of land to ensure the expansion of the airport in Malindi International.
The Kenyan government has allocated another 5 billion shillings to buy from another private portion of land, in addition to those already optioned and those who represent the most difficult phase which would become operational, or the eviction of squatters living illegally for years in soils near the airport, where it will be built the new track, for a total of 2.5 kilometers of asphalt to land and take off the Boeing arriving from other continents.
In total it is planned 259 hectares of land, of which only a small part has already been acquired to expand the parking of cars, to the square of the aircraft parking (apron) and the expansion of the terminal. In the project, in addition to the new track, it is also planned a shopping center, hangars and other facilities.
The second of the three phases of the project, which plans to land acquisition, expected to close by June this year.
