Italian tourist died in Kenya in a tragic accident

Farewell to Antonella, wife of Judo champion Alfredo Vismara

22-12-2023 by Freddie del Curatolo

She was returning with her husband to Malindi, to their second home, in that Kenya that Antonella Bigliotto Vismara loved so much and frequented for years and where Alfredo Vismara, her husband, is also known and appreciated by all for the splendid contribution he has made to the sport of Judo, as the Italian champion he was and the great teacher he still is for so many young Kenyans.

The Milanese couple had recently arrived in Mombasa and were traveling on the transfer that from Mombasa airport, as always, would take them to Malindi to spend the Christmas and New Year vacations. Suddenly, near Kilifi, according to our sources, a collision with a truck caused the backlash that killed the woman on impact, while Vismara suffered only severe bruising.

The Italian Embassy in Kenya immediately stepped in to assist the former Italian champion and is following up on the case.
Sadly, however, in these days when Kenya is seeing an increase in road accidents due to the movement of citizens, residents and thousands of tourists, we must mourn the passing of one of our compatriots. Antonella was 79 years old, to Alfredo a dear hug and our deepest condolences.
