The Kenyan government, with its most important representatives starting with President Uhuru Kenyatta, is currently in Dubai to take part in the Arabian Gulf trade forum, as part of the Dubai Expo which is attracting an increasing number of visitors and businessmen to the emirate.
192 countries from all over the world are taking part in this six-month edition that merges the two previous ones that were not set up due to the pandemic and its restrictions.
The theme of the edition is "Connecting minds, creating the future" and Kenya has one of the brightest and most visited stands at the expo, where according to the organizers 200 thousand people have already passed through.
Kenyatta, opening the Kenya-Gulf Cooperation Council, expressed his willingness to listen to the UAE's requests to improve trade and investment relations in the country, reducing bureaucracy and creating futuristic bilateral paths.
"This is the feast of welcome - Kenyatta began - we are here to listen and facilitate. We will try to do what investors ask us to bring their investments, to help us create jobs and to help us develop our economy."
The heartfelt invitation comes just weeks after the two states came close to a diplomatic crisis after Dubai closed its airspace to Kenya over its lack of confidence in the authenticity of vaccine swabs and certificates. In retaliation, Nairobi had done the same to incoming Emirates, also blocking many business travelers and international tourists flying with Emirates. The issue, fortunately, was resolved after about a month.
Now accompanying the President are Ministers Betty Maina (industrialization), Mutahi Kagwe (health), Raychelle Omamo (foreign affairs), Amina Mohamed (sports), Peter Munya (agriculture) as well as the holder of Tourism Najib Balala.
Among the international friends met in Dubai by Uhuru Kenyatta there is also the Italian Flavio Briatore who, in addition to his passion for Kenya and his frequentations in the Emirates, with his interests in Malindi and Nairobi has certainly good ties on the Afro-Arab axis. The owner of Billionaire yesterday posted on his Instagram profile a photo that shows him at the Expo together with the President of Kenya.
