Daily deaths from Covid-19 are increasing, but deaths from respiratory syndromes and other sudden illnesses that could be linked to the virus are also increasing.
Due to the lower temperatures, as well as the laxity of most Kenyans, the virus is regaining strength in the country and contagions could be many more than reported.
Yesterday Kenya recorded 1,344 new cases of Covid-19 in a sample of 7,162 cases examined in the last 24 hours, with the percentage continuing to rise to 18.7.
The number of deaths is unfortunately an absolute record since March, 24 cases have been reported, while Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe announced at the same time that 22 health workers in the country have been overwhelmed by Covid-19 because of their work. Healthy people who have been in daily contact with the virus, however, are about 10% of those who have so far been infected during their work in health care facilities, 2108 among doctors and nurses.
The total number of deaths now stands at 1154, while there are another 436 patients cured of the pandemic disease. 139 of them were discharged from various hospitals in the country, 297 were in home care.
There are still 1,266 patients hospitalised in healthcare facilities across the country, while 5,898 were followed home. About 200 people are currently hospitalised in special wards, between intensive care and high dependency units. Almost all of them receive ventilatory support or supplementary oxygen.
This is the distribution of cases on Tuesday 10 November per County.
