The demonstrations against the 2004 Finance Bill are taking a very tragic turn in Nairobi, where a group of demonstrators have stormed the parliament and are trying to enter it, while outside the parliament the police are firing, and according to local television stations there are already at least five dead. The demonstrations, which were supposed to be peaceful, took a different turn in the capital following news coming from the parliament where the controversial finance bill was being voted on, which was finally approved with 195 votes in favour and only 106 against. According to Kenyans, some opposition MPs joined the demonstrators outside the parliament.
The situation is evolving, but also in other cities the action of the demonstrators has brought euphoria and uncontrolled actions, with violent police responses.
