Kenya on the eve of the election loses the man of national security.
Defense Minister Joseph Ole Nkaissery died suddenly last night after being taken to hospital in Nairobi.
A malady, whose causes are still to be verified, stashed the man at the helm of national security operations in view of the next delicate presidential vote.
Nkaissery, of the Maasai tribe, had been elected by President Kenyatta in 2014 to replace then Minister Lenku, who was deemed not to be in need of securing a country's stability in national defense, especially in relation to extremism.
Yesterday morning Nkaissery had been alongside Uhuru Kenyatta during a celebration.
