Charles of England's first official trip as ruler will be to Kenya.
King Charles III will visit the African country to which the family has always been close for at least three reasons, from next Oct. 31 to Nov. 3 this year, the British government announced.
Kenyan President William Ruto had invited Charles to coincide with the country's 60th anniversary independence celebrations, but the British ruler will bring forward the visit.

"His Majesty's first visit to a Commonwealth nation as King is therefore to the country where the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, who ascended the throne in Kenya in February 1952, began," the British government said. This is one of the important links we mentioned; another is related to the love story between son William and daughter-in-law Kate Middleton. The two became engaged right after an unforgettable vacation in the Savannah.
It was 2010, and the Duke of Cambridge, proposed to his future wife during a romantic safari in the idyllic Lewa Conservancy in the Laikipia Plateau.

"The African continent holds a very special place in my heart," William revealed at the time, "It is the place where my father took my brother and me shortly after our mother died. And here is revealed the third reason for his fondness with Kenya.
"The King and Queen will visit the counties of Nairobi and Mombasa and surrounding areas," they explain from London, "Their program will reflect the ways in which Kenya and the UK are working together, particularly to increase mutual prosperity, tackle climate change, promote youth opportunities and employment, advance sustainable development and create a more stable and secure region.
