SOLIDARITY

In just three days since we launched the appeal, Malindikenya.net has found the first 200 euros to operate on little Lydia, a six-year-old orphan (she was abandoned in front of a church when she was four days old and taken to the Heart's Children Home in Malindi) suffering from a serious malformation of the upper gum.
The appeal, initiated by friends of Claudia Peli, our collaborator who had adopted Lydia from a distance before she died prematurely two years ago, reached the group of friends of Donatella Crispino, known by everyone in Malindi as "Donamasai". In a short space of time, almost the entire sum was collected! The customers of the Silversand Residence and the Jahazi Restaurant, who bought copies of Claudia's book "Arrivederci Africa, Kwaheri", which are still on sale at the special price of Kshs. 500 just to continue the indispensable help to Lydia. The operation to remove the gum growth that was preventing the growth of Lydia's permanent teeth," explains the manager of Heart's Children Home, Kenneth, "will be carried out in Mombasa, together with the histological examination. The money that generous Italian donors have raised will be used for this. Then we'll need more donations to buy antibiotics and return to Mombasa for the check-up...and let's hope everything goes well!" Lydia is hilarious, has a contagious laugh and has already won us over. We can't help but believe that everything will go well and that Claudia, somewhere in an unknown dimension or in the energy of creation, is smiling too.
