This Friday, 15 March, the Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi presents an exhibition at the National Museum in the Kenyan capital that proposes two important 'missions' of contemporary art.
"Un'Infinita Attesa dell'Alba" by Flaminia Mantegazza in fact proposes works that not only convey this message through expressive form, but also through the reuse of recycled materials that can safeguard the environment.
The exhibition, organised in collaboration with the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and already successfully exhibited in the African stages of Dakar, Senegal and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will be presented by the author during an evening event starting at 6.30 p.m., accompanied by the performance of the musician Masala Sefu on cello.
The work of Floriana Mantegazza, an Italian who grew up in Rio De Janeiro, where she graduated in Economics and History, and specialised in Rome, where her passion for the arts exploded, consists in manipulating newspaper and magazine paper with great versatility and making it the preferred material of her work (wall bas-reliefs, sculptures, large installations), accompanying it with acrylic colours of a clear and brilliant timbre.
He has exhibited regularly, holding exhibitions in Italy and abroad (Istanbul, Athens, London, Moscow), and has developed urban-environmental installation projects, including large-scale ones, such as the permanent one at the MUST Museum in Faenza.
The exhibition presented in Kenya was created to raise awareness towards the preservation and respect of the environment: through works that testify to a vigilant awareness of the passing of life and time.
To participate in the event on Friday 15, please make a reservation by sending an e-mail to: iicnairobi@esteri.it. Participants will also be offered an Italian aperitif.
