The curator of the National Museum of Kenya, Caesar Mbita, presented the Malindi Cultural Expo to the press, a series of eight appointments starting from June 2 to August, the day of national elections, to present in the space in front of the National Museum (Behind the Square of Uhuru Garden) some of the ethnic groups that make up Kenya.
You will start with the kikuyu of the Mount Kenya association of Kilifi County. On June 2 and 3, the kikuyu group living on the coast will stage performances, dances and stalls of products and handicrafts of their tradition.
You can also sample the famous "Muratina", a kind of homemade grappa of the kikuyu tradition.
"Other appointments will be announced in the coming days," explained Mbita, "but will be on the fringe of the very beautiful and popular event last fall, where the Luhya community was organizing a two day cultural, musical and gourmet show."
The one year Membership Card of "Malindi Museum Society" costs only KES. 1000, and is a way for those who gravitates to Malindi, to support the culture and subsidize those who organize exhibitions, meetings and keeps archives and historical libraries small...
