Classical Italian music on the Kenyan coast

Two concerts in Nyali and Diani with mandolin player Dorina Frati

11-02-2025 by redazione

A double date of the highest level with Italian classical music on the Kenyan coast. On Thursday 13th in Nyali and the following day in Diani, the internationally renowned mandolinist Dorina Frati from Brescia will be on stage, accompanied by maestro Daniele Roi on the piano.

The evenings have been organised by the Italian Cultural Institute, which will close the three days of events dedicated to the coast, with the unique event of the concert on Saturday 15th at the archaeological site of Gede, between Malindi and Watamu (we presented it here).

Dorina Frati, first mandolin of the philharmonic orchestra of La Scala in Milan, will perform on Thursday 13th February at the Alliance Française in Mombasa, Nyali, for a free event.

On Friday, the concert will be held at the Swahili Beach Resort in Diani, with free admission upon reservation, by writing an email to iicnairobi@esteri.it.

Considered one of the greatest virtuosos on the international mandolin scene, in addition to La Scala, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the Filarmonica di Roma with whom she regularly performs, she has also been directed by Maestro Riccardo Muti, who invited her to perform with the Bayrischer Rundfunk Simphonieorchester in Munich, Germany. Alongside her intense concert activity, Dorina Frati teaches mandolin at the ‘L. Marenzio’ Conservatory in Brescia.

Daniele Roi, pianist and harpsichordist, has played the harpsichord in various orchestras and at important festivals all over the world and has recorded several works with a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary.
