FREDDIE'S CORNER

Mbogo wa Kimera and African teachings

"...there is nothing real to teach, in this world, if you have to survive first"

01-03-2024 by Freddie del Curatolo

I taught my daughter that wealth is nothing without the love of a husband and family.
But I did it because I am poor and have no hope of changing my situation, nor hers.
Honestly, if I were as rich as my president, like the owner of the fields where I work, I would gladly give up love.
I would also be OK with being hated, but living well and making my parents feel better.
So I hope my daughter marries a rich man, even if she does not love him.

I have taught my son that school is important for his future and that he must put effort into his studies.
But I did it because he is still young and maybe he will turn out to be talented, even though I know very well that from the school I can get him to attend, no one has ever come out to make a career.
So I hope that when he is 14 he finds a secure job and brings something home too, so we will all be better off: me not having to pay for his studies, and him having something in his pocket and something to give to us.

I taught my wife that there is nothing real to teach, in this world, if you have to survive first.
But I will continue to do so, even pretending, because if there is even the slightest hope that a man or a woman can change things, it will be because someone will have taught them.
