I've always wanted to run, to run away.
Not so far away, because there is no place for me that is too far away.
If there were, I think I would have found it by now.
Mind you, running doesn't mean running away.
Because running away is easier than staying and finding out that you're the only one who hasn't left.
Maybe even in your head.
Because running is the way our ordinary lives will be told.
The great global race, the marches for peace, for the environment, for rights.
The arms race, the race for progress, the races against time.  
Because "Escape to Victory" is only a film and the races are not a matter of course.
Then there are the lone races, which are often in pursuit of an opponent that does not exist.
Running for profit, running uphill, climbing the ladder of power... running so as not to be late and finally running to lock yourself in your house in a daze, because there is always someone running faster than you.
No, I don't want to run like the others, because running makes me look like all of them.
I will run in the opposite direction, I will not play hide and seek.
Because if I knew where to hide, I would end up staying there and I would never have to run for cover.
And if I don't run for my life, I should run for something more important, at least run to run and not out of fear.
Because the things I fear cannot be evaded, avoided, hidden, protected, pushed away.
Not without showing my current weakness.
I don't have to spit out my lungs to overcome them, I have to run in the direction I have chosen and at the pace that makes me feel better.
And if you come closer, try to catch up with me, you'll think you've caught up with me,
that's when you'll see me running and you'll really know why I'm running.
Then you will know, because otherwise I will never tell you.
