Like every Tuesday, it's time for the History of Italians in Kenya, narrated by Freddie del Curatolo in a podcast series full of anecdotes, quotes and music.
The series is the result of years of research, presented in one of the most popular forms of entertainment and information in the world today.
It is estimated that 18 million Italians listen to podcasts, using platforms such as Spotify, Spreaker or YouTube, and more and more media outlets, blogs and online newspapers have embraced this form of communication, which allows people to listen to what interests them while travelling or doing other things, without timetables (as is the case with radio), without advertising and without interruptions.
There are now dozens of listeners to our podcast every week, and new listeners can easily go back (it is advisable to start from the first episode) and get into the habit!
In this fifth episode, after the arrival of the first Consolata missionaries on the slopes of Mount Kenya, Freddie recounts the arrival in Kenya of the first poor emigrants in the 1930s, when Italians went to seek their fortune all over the world and some, perhaps not by choice, arrived in Mombasa on a ship bound for elsewhere that stopped there due to a breakdown... They stayed there and proselytised, as in the case of a small Friulian colony.
Enjoy listening!
