IRONY
12-08-2017 by Freddie del Curatolo
A white, big man.
The beard is thick and unkempt.
Even more ignorant hair.
The aragonized skin from the sun, the slow and lonely gallop of lobster.
The Foca del Sabaki, where everything is clay and magic, has all the shades of red and brown as possible from the "Terra di Siena" to the "Brick", which even in Siena do not imagine there is this land and these bricks.
The man sits on the shore and waits.
He is not Chinese and does not expect the enemy.
It is Italian and awaits a hippo.
Wilma has learned from people, he's never punctual.
He spent his best years in the crowd at the elementary school of Msufini, where the schoolchildren were always at school in the middle of the first lesson and the master punished them with ten rounds of sports at lunchtime.
Regularly, hot and sweaty as mangoes on stalls, they dived into the river and the hippo frightened them.
But Wilma has never chewed a human being.
"They make me so disgusting that I can not even kill them."
More quiet and serene (if possible) sisters, soft and lazy but more extreme.
Wilma comes to the reporter, now standing a few feet from the shore.
"Good morning Wilma, do you remember me? I came last Saturday "
"Vagely ... I'm not an elephant!"
As he asked me, I brought him three pounds of celery "
"You can tune them into the anal orifice"
"Excuse me?"
"Pin up your ass, replenish"
The gloomy glare fades, a mocking smile blurring in the cloudy water.
The eye is apparently more relaxed.
"Today I would like to aubergines, to Parmesan"
"Without the hand of the man you despised, you could not eat it ..."
"And who told you? There is a Monkey of Marikebuni, Horace, who prepares them from God ... he learned from a Palm Tree Club cook before he burned. You know, crap, we animals are able to do all the useful things that man does "
"Drive a car?"
"Why not?"
"Doing a business?"
"Well, it will take a big head ... a matter of touch and experience ..."
"And high finance? The scientists? University professors? Nuclear engineers? Politicians?"
"I said the useful things that make man"
Wilma is silent, her tongue versed with the muddy liquid with which she makes gargles, is as pleasant as a kidney drainage. But it belongs to an extinct race, that of animals with a sense of humor, who can hear and still love to curiosity.
"You have to admit, Wilma, that some human is to be saved ..."
"Piero Angela? Licia Colò? "
"Maybe Father Kizito Sesana, Brother Beppe Gaido, Gino Strada ..."
"That's a doctor, he's not a veterinarian ..."
"Pope Bergoglio"
"That's already more ..."
"Wilma!"
"I'm Catholic, I'm an animist. I believe in reincarnation. In another life I was Michele Zarrillo, in this I was promoted ... a step further on the ladder to the lighting "
"Are you a Buddhist?"
"Also"
"Many men and women are getting it"
"I've always been and will come back to be"
"Why, in your opinion?"
"Today, there are more important and immediate fears than death, so they are immortalized and return to cultivating the living soul"
"Well, is this also the human race?"
"Yes, but to mankind, I continue to prefer the police."
There is a huge man who leaves the bank of the river and stairs an easy cliff, using curiously celery stems like rock pickets. He is reflecting on the cultivation of the living soul and dreams of a plate of eggplant parmesan cooked by a monkey.
The wonderful story of the man who spoke with hippos continues.
He drowned it.
Alone.
On the river side.
Early in the morning.
She has her eyes glued anywhere and nowhere.
He just wanted to talk to a hippo.
A good read, about past times and those who dream of reviving them, until reaching the origin of those ancient tales narrated here. It's the Kenya of «Lord of the prairie», the latest book by the spanish writer Javier Yanes.
