The inheritance of the Italian gastronomic tradition of excellence in Nairobi, as is normal, passes to the new generations and in this sense the success of the pizzeria and meeting place "Solo Grano" of the young Italian-Kenyan Cristiano and Nico Traldi is significant.
Sons of the Roman importer Flavio and of the historic entrepreneur and hotelier from Malindi Tiziano, who passed away a few years ago, Cristiano and Nico have created in the Gigiri district of Nairobi a simple and welcoming place that is becoming a reference point in the area of the United Nations and Embassies and on the edge of two of the most important and extensive residential areas of the capital. Solo Grano is a classic Italian pizzeria but it is also a "hub" that lives from late morning with a bar-chiringuito that offers excellent aperitifs, drinks and cocktails until late at night, an artisan bakery (Mondo Pane) and a sandwich shop-piadineria (Rimini). When the first light of night falls, the atmosphere becomes that of an international square where Neapolitan specialties become the point of reference, but it is the variety of the clientele that creates a unique, friendly and fun place that attracts groups of friends, families with children, employees of organizations from all over the world and many Kenyans. At the weekend, as you can discover in our video service, Solo Grano becomes even more lively thanks to engaging and quality live music shows, while the wood-fired oven continues to work non-stop for those present and for the great demand for take-away pizzas. The quality of the products, starting from the Italian 00 flour to the fillings, is at the base of the pizzeria's appreciation, as well as the wine proposal, with Italian wines imported by New Italicor, the import-export company of Cristiano's father, Flavio Traldi, who for years has specialized in the diffusion of Italian brands and serves many restaurants, hotels and individuals in Nairobi.
Crafts linked to the will and passion of Italians abroad that are handed down from generation to generation, adapting to the times, the market and people's tastes. The success of Solo Grano in Nairobi is not by chance and we are pleased to report it, wishing the two guys to continue in this way. Not only do they gain, with their activity and the Kenyan employees involved, but the good name of Italy not Kenya.
