Curfew in Kenya extended for 30 more days

Priority for kenyans is now vaccination

04-10-2021 by redazione

Kenya has extended the curfew nationwide, for at least another 30 days, until next Thursday, November 4.
This was announced this morning, Monday, October 4, the Minister of Health Mutahi Kagwe, during a speech taken by the media to sensitize the Kenyan population on the importance of vaccination.
Kagwe, in his statement, confirmed that this month should be decisive to vaccinate as many people as possible, hinting that the curfew could last until citizens become aware of the importance of immunization.
It is certainly in the evening and at night that in the country is consumed the greatest amount of meetings, including nightclubs, concerts, parties and aggregations of all kinds with less control than during the day.
For this reason Kagwe reiterated that President Kenyatta did not intend to change the start and end time of the curfew, which will remain from 10 pm to 4 am, despite the various appeals of some Kenyans urging the government to lift the restriction that has seen many activities and thousands of citizens lose their jobs.
Infection rates are improving, but the guard cannot be lowered, is the thought expressed by Kagwe.
Meanwhile, the Minister recalled the Government's efforts to ease the restrictions, for example the Ministry of Transport has allowed Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) to resume carrying passengers in full capacity.
