Kenya's national airline Kenya Airways would like to return to flying from Milan to Nairobi as soon as possible.
This is reported by the Malpensa airport news website, which foresees the possibility of re-establishing the direct Italy-Kenya route by June 2022.
"It would be a great blow for the connectivity of the Milanese airport, on an important route for the East African area - comments the Malpensanews portal, which adds - The question mark is, however, a must, given the current global situation: in the past, Kenya Airways had already planned a return, but the current uncertainty makes it difficult to make forecasts about the real reopening of the Milan Malpensa-Nairobi route, also taking into account the limitations on tourism".
This is the biggest problem, notwithstanding the fact that several times in the past Kenya Airways has tried to restore the route from Milan and Rome to Nairobi, even with ad hoc connections to Malindi and Mombasa, but has always chosen the wrong periods, losing the trust of travelers.
As reported by Malpensanews the flights would be currently on sale in the system, starting from the first days of June 2022 the times currently offered the route Kenya-Italy sees the frequencies of Wednesday and Sunday, departing at 10:00 am from Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International and arriving in Milan Malpensa at 16.
In the direction of Africa, on the other hand, departure is scheduled at 17:20 from Milan Malpensa and arrival at 5:15 the following morning at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International airport, after a stopover at Rome Fiumicino. The flight is obviously operated on Wednesdays and Sundays, in correspondence with the flight from Kenya to Italy.
