In Malindi, one of the landmarks of the past seasons reopens today, having always added a "lounge" dimension to its services and to evenings full of life, music and good things to taste.
The Tangier Lounge rekindles its soft lights in an entirely new guise exactly one year after its premature seasonal closure due to the pandemic.
Completely renovated by the new managers, an Italian couple of Ligurian origin with a long experience in the commercial sector and for several years resident in Malindi, it maintains the originality and sobriety of always but adds a tone of elegance with the taste of minimal furniture and soft pastel colours that make it particularly welcoming.

Daring is part of our philosophy," explain the new managers, "to ride out and tackle crises. We are starting out as a work in progress with lots of ideas and some confirmation of the good things done by the last management, such as the evening of roast suckling pig".
In the meantime, the Tangeri Lounge will be open from today, Thursday 18 March, every day (except Mondays) from 4pm with aperitifs of all kinds and a large buffet at the counter with at least seven courses, including hot and cold pasta, battered vegetables, fish fingers, samosas and other classic and imaginative dishes. "But strictly no bruschetta," warn the managers.
Afternoons start with lounge music in the background with a deejay and at 7 pm the volume is turned up a bit and the place becomes a disco-pub with the possibility of dancing until 9 pm, the closing time imposed by the Covid-19 restrictions that will be strictly respected, together with social distancing.
On the occasion of the opening day, the Tangeri Lounge offers all customers a glass of sangria.
