You can write about places where you have never been, and if you know how to do it well, a bit like Emilio Salgari did with the Sargasso Sea and the adventures of Sandokan, it works too.
Let's come back down to earth and to our times... we are just humble African animals of reportage and for certain small paradises on our coast of Kenya, visiting in person is an excuse to spend a fabulous day, almost as if we were on holiday.
This is one of the privileges of our job and we gladly sacrifice ourselves.
This time we went to try the new Tamu Restaurant on Watamu beach, in the enchanting Crystal Bay. A restaurant overlooking, with an amazing view, an organised private beach with sun loungers where you are pampered... as confirmed by a very pleasant acquaintance of the Watamu hospitality team who runs it and whom we interviewed.
