It is not only private tourism-related activities or information 'on the ground' that state this, but also an official Kenyan government source: Kenya is a safe tourist destination and there are no problems for those travelling to this country. This was stated by the government body in charge of tourism promotion, the Kenya Tourist Board, in an official statement sent to the media.
"In light of the recent events in Kenya, we want to assure all international travellers that ours remains a safe and peaceful destination," the KTB wrote, listing all the places that never experienced any problems during the two days of anti-government protests this week, from domestic and international airports, to major suburban link roads, to all major tourist destinations.
Even the Farnesina, while continuing to advise the utmost caution, avoiding areas that may be affected by gatherings and demonstrations, has not changed its recommendations or any alerts, compared to previous days, however, inviting travellers to keep informed through the media on the developments of the situation and to follow the indications of the local authorities.
Finally, Italian nationals present are invited to download the "ViaggiareSicuri" app, with active geolocation, and to register their presence on the dovesiamonelmondo website.
The Italian Embassy in Nairobi can be reached at the number 00254722514327 answered by the official on duty, in case of serious emergencies (deaths, injuries, thefts, accidents, arrests, etc.) or at the e-mail address nairobi.fdt@esteri.it.
