Italy-Mombasa via Dubai with only one stopover

KQ-Emirates agreement, watch out for prices

14-06-2023 by Leni Frau

There is a new possibility for those who want to fly from Europe to Mombasa with a single stopover: the national airlines of Emirates (Emirates) and Kenya (Kenya Airways) have reached an agreement that will allow customers to fly on the two airlines' networks with a single itinerary.
In addition to allowing Emirates access, via Kenya Airways, to 28 African destinations using Nairobi as a direct connection from Dubai (including Kigali in Rwanda, Bujumbura in Burundi and other capitals such as Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Juba in South Sudan) it will be possible from Dubai, with a single ticket, for example arriving from Milan or Rome, to proceed to Mombasa, thanks to Kenya Airways Dubai-Mombasa flights. This obviously makes it possible, as already happens for Nairobi but always with Emirates, to make only two stopovers to arrive on the coast and carry the maximum luggage load, that is, two 23 kg packages each, plus 7 kg in the hold. There are already four weekly flights for now, in addition to the 10 that make the Dubai-Nairobi route.
Prices will be more or less the same as those already present for Emirates' routes to Nairobi, perhaps even cheaper. So it's worth taking a look, because Ethiopian Airways since it believes it is the only or at least the most convenient on the Italy-Mombasa route, has been taking a bit of advantage with its fares.
At this point, while waiting for the return of Turkish with its many connections from Italian airports via Istanbul, for those who want to land in Kenya's coastal airport, in addition to the Ethiopian national airline, the possibilities are represented by Eurowings-Lufthansa (via Frankfurt) and KLM (via Amsterdam), given the start-up of direct charters from July.
Kenya Airways, on the other hand, will be able to connect directly from Mombasa to Western and South Asia, the Far East, the Indian Ocean and the Middle East, with 23 new destinations, via Dubai. These include Singapore, Tokyo, Bangkok, Ahmedabad, Beirut, Hong Kong, Jakarta and Seoul.
