TOURISM

Seventy million images examined on the largest photography portal, Flickr, cannot lie: Kenya is the world's favourite destination for capturing wildlife in its natural habitat.
This has been decreed by the most in-depth study to date, produced by the travel portal Go2Africa, which has examined all the images taken in wildlife paradises around the globe. Despite the name of the portal, the research did not only include destinations on the African continent, in fact, in second place was Canada, in third place there was Singapore and in the Top 10 there were also Australia, Botswana, Tanzania, Lithuania, Namibia, India and South Africa.
Travellers who visited Kenya uploaded a total of 584,013 photographs taken in the country of savannah dwellers, with high priority given to the Big 5: lions, leopards, elephants, African buffaloes and rhinos, which emerged as the most sought-after animals in the lenses of photo amateur tourists from around the world. From 765,981 images for Canada, only 156,420 depict wild animals in their habitat, and so on downwards. For Kenya, it is a sign of continued appreciation from international tourism and industry insiders: earlier this year, the New York Times listed Tsavo National Park as one of the 52 travel destinations of 2024 worldwide, while the Maasai Mara has won the title of best international wildlife reserve every season for the past 7 years.
