Kenya vaccination: 0,05 per cent a day...

With this speed country will remain behind

14-09-2021 by redazione

Despite new arrivals of vaccines (yesterday another 210 thousand AstraZeneca donated by Poland), in Kenya the process of temporary immunization of the population proceeds at such a low rate that, if it continued as it is, it would see 50% of Kenyans vaccinated at the end of 2024.
Therefore, it is not so much the presence of doses on the territory, but the organization of health facilities in the country and the speeding up of the process, as well as awareness campaigns towards adults. Other important aspects would concern facilitations for transport and perhaps even a "bonus" for those who vaccinate, such as a full meal, as has been done in other countries.
Meanwhile, Covid-19, while not frightening, continues to spread throughout the country.
Data from the Ministry of Health show a rate of 6.88%, with only 2963 swabs and 204 positives.
The total number of cases in the country has thus risen to 243,929 and the healed are 233,902 (yesterday another 984 patients were discharged).
On deaths, it has long been impossible to speak of cases in the last 24 hours, because the count is cumulative and some deaths are reported late from hospital records across the country.
In any case, 17 have been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total losses due to the virus to 4,923.
There are currently 1,555 patients hospitalized in various healthcare facilities across the country, while 3,345 are under the home isolation treatment program.
In addition, 138 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 91 of whom are on ventilatory support and 33 on supplemental oxygen. 14 patients are under observation. Another 624 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, including 566 in general wards and 58 in high dependency units (HDUs).
As almost always, it is Nairobi that leads the ranking of cases divided by county, very few swabs on the coast, with 3 cases in Kilifi and 2 in Mombasa.
As mentioned, vaccinations continue with 0.05 of the population per day, the vaccines already administered are about 3 million and 100 thousand.
