Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta has changed his plans, deciding to drop by Malindi yesterday and not next week, to officially launch the tarring of the road leading to Tsavo East National Park.
Kenyatta was speaking at the Alaskan Stadium, together with his staff.
With him were Vice-President William Ruto, Tourism Minister Najib Balala and Minister of Mineral Resources, and elected Malindi MP, Dan Kazungu, one of the architects of the Malindi-Sala Gate road project.
Kenyatta announced that the first twelve kilometres of the road, from Malindi to Ganda, will be completed by the end of December.
