A big fire broke out this morning reduced to ashes good part of the structures of Mapango bar restaurant Watamu, of the Department of Lily Palm Resort, who was unhurt. The fire spread in a few minutes because of the strong wind that was blowing from the sea, across the roofs of the structure makuti, starting from the kitchen where all likelihood (but the exact causes are to be verified) was a short circuit to trigger "hell".
The part closest to the beach, the à la carte restaurant and umbrellas, also makuti, was spared, but the fire from the kitchen devastated the upper floor of the structure, where is the dining area of ​​the resort and where tourists are also used to eat breakfast.
The fire spread to the entrance of the structure, even attacking a villa and furnishings and the local services.
There has been no harm to people, the few tourists in the structure have only been able to observe what was going on and the staff who went the extra mile in the first aid before the arrival of firefighters, reported no problems.
E 'already time for the count of the damage. The Mapango, along with part of the resort, was recently renovated and ready to welcome more tourists ahead of the winter season. Now we have to start a race against time to bring Mapango and services of Palm Lily to the usual beauty.
