His name is George Wajackoyah and he is one of the four candidates for Kenya's presidency in the upcoming elections on August 9, 2022.
In his life he has been a private investigator, a Kenyan intelligence executive, a political leader's taster, and a lawyer. He has two bachelor's and eight master's degrees, speaks four languages fluently and six others discretely.
It is not for this that Wajackoyah, who has also taught at an American university, has made headlines, but for his bold and astonishing governing program, which aims to restore Kenya's deepening and deepening public debt with two priority items.
The first is the legalization of marijuana; the second is snake farming.
"Marijuana cultivation will allow this country to pay its debt arrears and ensure Kenyans have enough money wherever they are so that they can sustain the situation," Wajackoyah said, "A bag of marijuana, and I'm not talking about those bags you see people carrying, but bags created specifically for marijuana, is worth $3.2 million. If you grow 1,000 acres of land and harvest 1,000 bags...you do the math."
His deputy, Justina Wamae, was even more precise and explicit: "China in 2021 planted 169,000 acres of marijuana and earned $1.2 billion. Here China has a debt of $9 trillion, which means we are spending China's marijuana money on our own projects. If you do the math, and we have Galana Kulalu, a million-acre project that failed, for obvious reasons, then why should we take high-interest loans from China while having arable land and labor? It's time to decolonize the minds of our people."
Clear ideas from the presidential candidate also on how thanks to snakes Kenya can become an economic powerhouse.
"Many people get bitten by snakes in this country and have to wait for antidotes to come from abroad through pharmaceutical companies," Wayackoyah explained, "We have too many snakes in this country. We will extract the venom for antivenom production and give the rest of the snake products to use, including the meat that is in high demand in the East, to offset the debt."
The symbol of the "Roots Party" is a marijuana leaf and the colors refer to the Rasta religion, but Wayackoyah, during an interview with Spice FM Kenya radio revealed that he has never smoked a joint in his life, is teetotal and vegetarian.
