Those who complain because flights are too expensive, those who complain because there are potholes in the roads, those who complain because there is no water four days a month, those who complain because of the garbage on the sides of the roads, those who complain because of the broken promises of the international airport ... and those who joke and make songs about these things.
This year's shows of Freddie and Defrost at Baby Marrow make fun of those who perpetuate the Italian art of complaining and often do not move a finger so that things can change at least in Malindi, because it is always someone else's fault.
Worst of all, those who haven't been seen in Kenya for years and who knows for what disappointment or frustration, continue to speak ill of it trying to proselytize, as if they wanted to indirectly punish someone by throwing boomerangs into the net.
They laugh to not cry, maybe, but also to reflect, listen to good music and spend two hours in joy. This is the Malindi Italian Cabaret by journalist, writer and performer Freddie del Curatolo and musician and arranger Marco "Sbringo" Bigi.
Latest replicas of this season's successful series, with parodies of famous songs rewritten especially for Italians in Kenya (Dio è morto by Guccini that becomes "Malindi è morta", La Bambola by Patty Pravo that turns into "L'ebola" and so on) and the inevitable catchphrase of the Kenyan summer, "Tusker Baridi Sana".
