Io Moribondo, risks of kenyan street food

Second parody of Festival di Sardegna 2

05-06-2021 by redazione

Second appointment with the Festival di Sardegna 2, the singing-cabaret invention of Freddie and Sbringo, in their capacity as animators of Tele Esule, a fictitious "expat" channel of irony that broadcasts on Youtube.
This week the inspiration for the parody of a famous (in this case very famous) song of Italian music, comes from an experience that more or less all the frequenters of Kenya have had: that of not resisting the temptation of street food in all its forms.
So Nomadi's "Io vagabondo" is raped in the key of "Alberto Sordi in East Africa" and the result is an improbable story of an unlucky tourist among suburban bars and culinary preparations impossible for our delicate stomachs and intestines to assimilate. And the Nomads themselves, from Emilian flower children, turn into real Kenyan migrant shepherds, Gli Orma.
Nowadays people think of street food as a fashion, an ethnic-cultural aspect of the holiday, which is so radical-chic. In reality, in Kenya it is often the cheapest way to get through the day with a semi-satisfied belly and a slightly less happy liver. Samosas with meat of dubious origin and freshness, fried potatoes repeatedly in the same oil, kebabs and large plates of beans and maize porridge boiled in water a little less cloudy than puddle water.
Obviously, these are extreme situations that are difficult for an Italian tourist to approach, unless he or she is excited by the classic adrenaline rush of novelty, of a unique and probably unrepeatable experience.
"Io moribondo" is about that typically equatorial feeling you get, exhausted, after this experience, and often after sitting for an hour in the same position on a chair with a hole in it.
Soft, tingling legs, chills of ice and hot sweat at the same time, dehydration and other side effects of that extra samosa at the Kadenge shack.
The important thing is to know that everything passes, especially in Africa, and that everything is an experience.
Dysentery from local food is one of the essential stamps on the passport of an "Italian expert on Kenya".
Knowing how to laugh about it, as in almost all adventures in these parts, is essential.
Because "Oggi le coliche" is one of the most popular live broadcasts.
And this is exactly the meaning of the Festival of Sardinia 2, to tell you in an ironic way the vicissitudes and extreme stories of our compatriots grappling, often for the first time, with a new habitat and its peculiarities and differences from the known world.
Yesterday, voting concluded, through clicks on Tele Esule's YouTube channel, for the first song "in the competition", namely "L'acqua non c'è" (The water is not there) to the tune of Nek's "Laura non c'è".
To vote for "Io moribondo" just listen to it, and to take part in the lottery, which gives everyone the chance to win rich prizes, you need to leave a comment in the spaces below the video. And as always, we ask you to subscribe to the channel, so that we can continue to offer you our desire to smile and involve you!
Happy listening, then. And always, as we would say in Sanremo, the presentation:
by Dattoli, Sbringhetti, Freddolio: "Io Moribondo": singers: The Orma.
