Once again this year Malindi Carnival is identified with Osteria Town and Osteria Beach.
The tradition of fancy dress parades begins with Shrove Saturday, 20 February, at Osteria Town where all the staff will be in costume with a surprise theme but customers who want to participate and get into the carnival atmosphere are invited to show off original masks or disguises, or even just show up with a touch of originality.
The evening starts with an aperitif and snacks from 6pm (try the house specialities, Passion Mojito or Virgin Passion Mojito) with music by the ever-popular DJ Dulla. The aperitif is included in the price of the Carnival Menu (Kes. 2500 per person excluding drinks) or separately for those who wish to dine à la carte.
The evening's special menu includes: tuna and apple tartare, pumpkin and prawn ravioli, Catalan-style lobster and, to finish, the typical chiacchiere (chatter).
The Carnival atmosphere continues on Sunday lunchtime for the usual buffet at the Osteria Beach. Starting at 12 noon in the enchanting space on the Indian Ocean's shore at Casuarina, Dj Dulla will be at the console again with diffused music and after lunch the staff will still be in fancy dress and so may be for customers who wish to honour the feast of surprises, always bearing in mind the covid-19 protocols with social distances, spaced tables and masks for the staff. A super buffet with roast suckling pig and other specialities will be the highlight of the day for just Kes. 1,800 per person, excluding drinks. For those who have lunch, the sunbed on the beach, as always, is included in the price.
