TRAVEL AND TOURISM

The cliché of 'Malindi is dead', whose only meaning can be the ironic parody of Nomadi's pop band 'God is dead', proposed by myself and Marco 'Sbringo' Bigi in the evenings of stories and music about Italians in Kenya, is fine for those who are not positively involved, have not been coming here for years, or prefer to complain Italianly, because life is complaining about something.
In reality, fortunately, there are those in Malindi who are busy, in the case of which we will speak below in the tourism sector, but for some time now also in the areas of environmental and cultural protection, which also means educating the new generations.
In recent weeks, this trend, in the face of age-old problems such as that of the Mayungu dump, or the pitiful condition of Lamu Road, which is both the town's central and commercial artery and a 'highway' (Sic!), is being reversed thanks to those who are getting involved.
We point out the virtuous cases of hospitality not only because they give lustre and hope to Malindi, but because it is only right to thank them and ensure that they set an example for so many others, crushed by immobilism, fatalism or resignation (which in Africa makes no sense, because as its nature teaches, everything is in constant evolution. As one poet more or less said, 'here everything rots in the ground and is reborn even more ready to rot'.
DIAMONDS DREAM OF AFRICA
Casuarina's triple resort, consisting of Dream of Africa, Malindi Dream Garden and Tropical, continues its collection of awards for best facility and best services. Its flagship property in Malindi confirmed at the recent World Travel Awards that it is one of the hospitality gems of the Indian Ocean.
The success of the structures created by Franco Rosso and managed by his sons is due to the upgrading of services and amenities, the management's attention and the exaltation of all the good things the destination has to offer. For example: wellness and relaxation = a spa that is up to the job.
BILLIONAIRE
That it is the best-known hotel and residence in Malindi, particularly for the Kenyan and continental clientele, is a fact. But fame is not an end in itself or won 'by default' because of Briatore, because of Naomi, etc. There is a good segment of clientele that wants the best and Billionaire, also thanks to the new management, knows how to offer it. The results for 2023, from what we learn from the owners, are flattering from this point of view.
OCEAN BEACH RESORT
The Marini family does not stand still for a moment, over the years the hotel, SPA with multi-conference room and other services has grown and is a reference point not only for conventions and for the Nairobi elite, but also for an international clientele ranging from East to West. The recent affiliation with the Aston chain, part of one of the most important hotel groups in the world, Archipelago International, number one in South East Asia, will make the 5-star Deluxe Italian hotel even more attractive and this can only be good for all of Malindi.
KILILI BAHARINI RESORT & SPA
The renovation in sight for a luxury structure that has in its being historic its particularity but also the need for continuous attention, has pushed the property to increase its receptivity and increase the number of rooms, even doubling the floors in a part of the resort and adapting to more modern standards the entire resort that has in its splendid beach with swimming pool the icing on a newer and tastier cake.
