Entry into Kenya: new rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers

Updates: requirement to show QR code on arrival

17-09-2022 by redazione

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has forwarded updates that address some of the health requirements limiting the spread of Covid-19 and introduced new charges for travellers arriving in the country who are without certificates of the two vaccinations Kenya requires for entry, or a negative PCR swab taken no more than 72 hours before departure.

According to a statement shared by the Kenya High Commission in London on Friday, 16 September, all passengers over the age of 12 without proof of vaccination or a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test will be subjected to a rapid antigen test at their own expense.

According to the KCAA, travellers without proof of the test will have to pay Ksh 3,615 (USD 30).

Those who test positive will be subjected to an entry PCR test at an additional cost of Ksh 6,025 (USD 50) and in the case of confirmation of positivity will be subjected to isolation as determined by the Ministry of Health.

"Travellers under the age of 12 years are exempted from the requirement to submit a vaccination certificate or PCR test prior to departure," the statement added.

Kenya's entry points also require travellers to complete a mandatory electronic traveller surveillance form before travel. After submitting the form, passengers receive a QR code via email, which must be shown to Port Health officials upon entry. The reference site is https://ears.health.go.ke/airline_registration/

TO REVIEW: VACCINATED PEOPLE MUST UPLOAD THE TWO DOSES (GREEN PASS IS NOT VALID) ON THE WEBSITE Globalhaven.org
NON VACCINATED: PCR TEST performed no earlier than 72 hours
IF UNVACCINATED: Antigen test on arrival at your own expense ($30)

FOR ALL: ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE FORM (SIMILAR TO THE OLD ITALIAN PLF) WITH WHICH YOU RECEIVE A QR CODE VIA EMAIL TO SHOW ON ARRIVAL
