Variations, Kenya is not banning flights to South Africa

PS Mochache: "Ignore propaganda and let's get vaccinated"

29-11-2021 by redazione

The Kenyan government for now will not close international flights to countries where the new Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus is active.
This was confirmed by Deputy Health Minister Susan Mochache during a press conference held on Sunday, November 28.
"We are not stopping international flights," Mochache said, "But we are monitoring all people traveling from countries that have reported multiple cases of the new variant to ensure that our people are safe."
Although this move may worry Western countries connected with Kenya, the deputy minister urged the media not to follow the propaganda of those who claim that vaccines are not useful to deal with the virus, given the emergence of new variants, calling on Kenyans to vaccinate to reach the number of 10 million vaccinated with second dose by the end of the year, a very difficult goal supported by the Government.
Kenya in fact aligns itself with the positions of the African Union, which has called excessive the behavior of United Europe and the United States and other states that have closed the international trade with South Africa and seven other countries in the world, ready to do so in any other nation that will become an outbreak of Omicron variant.
"We're not taking any chances. We are doing everything possible to ensure that all citizens are safe from the new variant," added the deputy minister, recalling the measures taken by the government and openings to save the economy that, if not supported by the population with prevention and adherence to protocols, could frustrate the efforts made and bring back closures and bans.
