Watamu these days is a popular Kenyan destination for everyone: international tourists, Kenyan citizens and residents, and expat holidaymakers from Nairobi and the surrounding area.
Among the resort's many attractions for recreation and relaxation is padel, a racquet sport that mixes elements of tennis and squash, which while relatively new in the African country, has started to gain ground in recent years as part of a broader trend of emerging sports across Africa.
And in Watamu, it is worth mentioning, there is the first padel club with three courts built in the whole of Kenya, in 2022, by La Casa del Padel, and run by Non Solo Padel, a brand of Non Solo Gelato.
Now most padel courts are in Nairobi, but like other sports loved by foreigners that Kenyans also like, it has the potential to spread everywhere. On the strength of this, the Padel Federation of Kenya (Pfk) was also born.
In Watamu, Non Solo Padel is now known not only as a club for fans of this sport that combines recreation and competition, health and fun, physical activity and sharing. Next to the courts, in fact, there is a real ‘sporting club’ a meeting place for all, with a play area for children, relaxation areas in which to enjoy the best moments of the day and the evening with bar service, restaurant, pizzeria and ice cream parlour with the best products of Non solo Gelato, open every day from morning to evening.
