Italians are already hunting for tickets after learning of the reopening of NEOS charter flights from Milan and Rome to Mombasa (from Milan with a stopover in Zanzibar on the outbound leg). According to what has been published and is already bookable on the website of the airline that after more than two years has resumed flying to Africa, from next June 28 from Milan Malpensa and from July 27 from Rome Fiumicino it will be possible to travel to Mombasa on an Italian line without having to change aircraft and wait at the airport as was the case until now from August 2020.
Flight prices (at the moment only one flight per week is scheduled from Milan, departing from Italy on Tuesdays, from July 27th there will be another flight on Wednesdays, thus becoming two weekly flights; from Rome at the moment only one flight is scheduled on Wednesdays) until the end of July are also affordable, as reported by NEOS: starting from 330 euros per route, in economy, with a cheaper formula that however does not allow the refund of the ticket price.

There does not seem to be any phobia of the presidential elections for Italian tourists, in fact the flights of August 2 and 9 are already sold out (even if for those of August 3 and 10 there are still seats available) and consequently those of the same month increase in price, although not excessively: for the first two weeks of August the basic fare is higher, about 500 Euros one way from Milan and 450 Euros from Rome, but already from August 24 the fare is lower.
The race to secure the ticket is the result of the stress of traveling and stopping in foreign airports, with possible rules to be respected. As has already happened for the covid-free corridors, on charter flights there may still be some rules daughters of the tail of the pandemic, such as the antigenic swab or the refusal to board unvaccinated passengers.
